WBC Platform Volunteers
Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026
Location: Horizon Events Center (2100 NW 100th Street, Clive, Iowa), Enter through door H2
Upon arrival for your shift, please report to Volunteer Headquarters to check-in and get a volunteer shirt.

Take a left into the main court area
Volunteer Headquarters is about halfway down the court area on the left (south side)
Light snacks and lunch will be provided for all volunteers! Horizon Events Center also has a concession stand for additional options throughout the day.
Some of you are scheduled all day, and others are morning or afternoon only. Review the schedule carefully as you may bounce from one task to another between AM and PM.
Below is a tentative schedule and is subject to change based on the flow of lifting:
7:20 AM Morning volunteers, please report to Volunteer Headquarters to check-in, and get a volunteer shirt. *see above for directions*
7:30 AM Morning volunteers report to stage for orientation/set-up.
8:00 AM Bench begins
11:15 AM Afternoon-only volunteers, please report to Volunteer Headquarters to check-in, get a volunteer shirt and grab some lunch. *see above for directions*
11:30 AM Bench ends - All platform volunteers help remove racks from stage and prep stage for deadlift - then grab lunch in Volunteer Headquarters.
11:45 AM Afternoon-only volunteers report to stage for orientation.
11:55 AM All platform volunteers report to stage for deadlift
12:00 PM Deadlift begins
2:30 PM Equipment movers (those not on the platform) report to Volunteer Headquarters to check-in to start loading equipment
3:00ish Deadlift ends - all platform volunteers clear equipment from stage and warm-up area and load in U-Haul.
4:000ish Equipment movers follow U-Haul to 22nd Street/MAD Strength Lab/RBI Gym to help unload.
Roles
Judge: Ensures that each lift meets competition standards by evaluating depth, form, and execution according to the rulebook. Judges signal whether a lift is successful or not.
Spot/Load: Maintains athlete safety by quickly and efficiently loading the correct weights on the bar and spotting lifters to prevent injury in case of a failed attempt.
Scorer: Records and tracks each lifter’s attempts, successful lifts, and overall standings to ensure accurate competition results.
Stage Expediter: Manages the flow of lifters onto the platform, ensuring they are ready and in position for their attempts in a timely manner.
Floor Expediter: Coordinates lifters in the staging area, keeping them informed of their queue order and directing them toward the platform when needed.
Warm-up Expediter: Oversees the warm-up area, ensuring lifters stay on schedule, have access to appropriate equipment, and are prepared before heading to the competition floor.
